Fresh, vibrant, youthful, energetic, exciting and on-target—these are the words clients use to describe KrausCreative’s design and strategic services. So vivid and lively is this studio’s work that you may miss an important fact about this firm: It’s actually the oldest continually operating art and design studio in upstate New York.

From its humble beginnings in the 1930s, the studio grew to become the award-winning Kraus/LeFevre Studios in the 1970s, handling clients as diverse and prestigious as Eastman Kodak Company and the R. T. French Company. From the “little yellow box” to bright yellow mustard, Kraus/LeFevre built a reputation as one of the strongest and most progressive design firms in western New York State.

When president and owner Jurij T. Kraus passed away suddenly in 1994, his son, Roman Kraus, was more than prepared to take on leadership of this well-respected studio. Following his father’s lead, Roman had established himself as a top graphic designer and multimedia expert in the New York City metropolitan area, where the newest and most innovative communications techniques had already begun to blossom online, as well as on tape and in hard copy.

Roman returned to Rochester and assumed the leadership role as studio president. Under his supervision, Kraus/LeFevre—which became KrausCreative in 2004—built a roster of clients that have included Bausch & Lomb, The College Board, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Carestream Health, Constellation Energy, Harper Collins Publishers, Kodak, Mobil Chemical, the New York City Marathon, the law firm of Nixon Hargrave, Swain Ski & Snowboard Center, Wyeth-Ayerst Laboratories and Xerox, among dozens of others.

Today, KrausCreative embraces the newest and most advantageous strategies for its clients, combining these with the sound marketing practices that have propelled companies to the top of their industries for many decades. At KrausCreative, history meets innovation and smart business practices join with state-of-the-art solutions and sharp, savvy design—and the studio’s clients flourish and prosper.
